Buenos Aires, April 13 (NA) -- The Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, again this Monday backed the Head of Cabinet, Manuel Adorni, by leading a tour of the facilities of the Operational Unit of the Biological Containment Center of the National Administration of Laboratories and Health Institutes (ANLIS) Malbrán, to which the Minister of Health, Mario Lugones, was added. According to the Argentine News Agency, the first Level 4 Biosafety (BSL-4) laboratory for human health in Latin America operates in this place, which positions Argentina as a regional leader in public health and strengthens the country's sanitary and scientific security. The visit to this place came amid scandals focusing on Adorni over the purchase of apartments and flights abroad. The national official is being investigated by the federal justice system for alleged illicit enrichment. In turn, Lugones is going through a conflict in the Ministry of Health over the lack of payment with PAMI benefits. Adorni case: the women who granted direct financing to the Head of Cabinet testified. The new laboratory will be integrated into the world network of maximum security laboratories and will be a strategic center to prevent high-risk emerging diseases, as well as to strengthen health security at the national and regional levels. The commissioning of the BSL-4 laboratory and the training instance led by experts from Health Security Partners (HSP) and the Biological Engagement Program (BEP) of the US Department of State consolidate a strategic alliance between Argentina and the United States. Also present during the activity were the Secretary of Administrative Management of the Ministry of Health, Guido Giana; the director of ANLIS Malbrán, Claudia Perandones; the head of the Special Bacteriology Laboratory of the INEI, Mónica Prieto; the head of the Antimicrobial Service of the INEI, Alejandra Corso; the director of the Operational Unit of the Biological Containment Center, Alexis Edelstein; and an advisor to the ANLIS Malbrán Directorate, Juan Ignacio Mier.
